Album Review

The German keyboard player Michael Quast (aka Amandus) composed his first smooth jazz song in 1996, after obtaining his Master's degree in physics.

Still, he chose to go on tour with Paul Young, Nik Kershaw, Johnny Logan and Midge Ure.

Since he launched his solo career in 2020, I've already reviewed two of his EPs for another site. Now let me introduce you to him here. His light-hearted style of funky grooves and romantic melodies immediately reminds me of Jonathan Fritzén's sound.

Amandus explores the many facets of love in an optimistic way through 6 tracks. Both real and imagined love are featured, with rap by Klvive from Trinidad on the title track. Amandus also collaborated again with the German Uli Borderson.

A very nice EP, top smooth jazz! “Amandus, I want more!”
